GRETA DUTTON ART
LANDSCAPES
Moody skies, water, sunsets, sunrises, and being outdoors in nature are a few of my favorite things that inspire me.
CUT OUTS
I enjoy the process of painting paper, cutting, arranging and rearranging. It’s like doing a puzzle and figuring out what works.
ABSTRACTS
Sometimes I like to crank the music and get lost in the process of painting, adding, subtracting, and playing until it feels right.

To me, painting is a meditative process. I love being alone in my studio, listening to music, and exploring paint and color.
I studied art at Pepperdine University and DePauw University and graduated from DePauw in 1999 with a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in oil painting. My first real art job was painting photography backdrops (in a barn on a farm!) during summer breaks of college. After college, I worked as a graphic and web designer in the media production and communications industry in Indianapolis before working for my family's four generation ribbon and bow manufacturing company. With the sale of the business and move to Seattle in 2014, I found my way back to art. I volunteered as an art docent at Lawton Elementary for five years while my two daughters attended from 2014-2019. I learned that I truly enjoy helping kids learn, appreciate, and have fun creating art. I was fortunate to meet several other local Magnolia artists during my time at Lawton and ended up opening Westerly Studio in 2017 with Julie Jacobson. We use the space to teach art to kids, adults, and to create and sell art.
